 May 16-19, 2014

This event is hosted by the Pinch-o-Crow Creekers Kayak Club. All proceeds go to support youth kayak programs and free kayak lessons to schools in Southwest Alberta.

This year we are celebrating Chuck Lee's 40 year anniversary of canoeing & kayaking that began here in Alberta. Bring your favourite story or picture of an paddling experience with Chuck - there are bound to be some doozies out there to share.

The event will be based at Castle River Rodeo Grounds, north of Beaver Mines on Hwy 507

In Person Registration can be completed at the event but we would appreciate your advance registration so we can have a great steak reserved for you

The Pinch-o-Crow Creekers Kayak Clubs is hosting the 16th annual WW Rendezvous on May 16-17-18-19, 2014 again this year down here in the "Centre of Adventure". We will be organizing and leading trips on the Castle, Crowsnest and Oldman Rivers. There will also be chances to go paddle Cameron Creek and the Carbondale, Elk, Wigwam, Bull, Highwood, Waterton or Belly Rivers while you are down here. Only three days and too many rivers to paddle.

Online registration is now open  https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=6860&lan=1&cartlevel=1

There will be opportunities for beginner groups to get on the water and paddle easier stretches as well as more advanced trips.  We have something special planned for this year, including more sun, less snow and lots of water for all you big wave fans. Okay seriously – its always been fun and it will be fun this year too!

This year we will have demo boats from several manufacturers and equipment will be on site to try and buy.

Camping is going to be the same as last year. We will be at the Castle River Rodeo Grounds. You may remember it as the takeout for the Upper Castle River run. It is centrally located and easy to find off Highway 507 between Hwy 3 near Lundbreck and Beaver Mines. This site is well sheltered with flush toilets, a camp kitchen and lots of room for everyone – even those softies that bring trailers. The campground has electrical plug-ins at selected sites.

Drive west on Highway 3 past Lundbreck Falls till you come to Highway 507. Turn south and head towards Beaver Mines and Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Drive 8 km south, after you cross the Castle River at the top of the hill turn east to the Castle River Rodeo Grounds. The road swings back down to the river and we are camped right there.

Steaks and fixings dinner for Saturday night and Sunday night we will have another great dinner - menu still to be confirmed. We have more cooking appliances so we can get you through the lineups quicker than ever before.  There will be vegetarian options for those who want it. Please let us know in advance so that we can order enough for you.

Again this year we are encouraging you to bring your own plates, cups and cutlery to reduce our waste.

We have a package price for the weekend. This price includes all entries, live entertainment, 3 nights camping, 2 suppers and 3 breakfasts, plus prize tickets. Early bird on-line prices are as follows. After May 9th the price increases by $15 and late on-site registration increases again by another $10.

Snowpack is WAY above average this year in the Crowsnest, Castle, Oldman and Waterton drainages. So we have lots of snow and with some warmer weather this year the paddling will be exceptional on the Oldman and Castle.

New this year, the AWA is offering an opportunity for people who want to complete their Leader or Instructor courses to be evaluated with no charge except the CKC certification fee.

If you are a brand new novice paddler, still dry behind the ears, and would like a 2 day lake and river beginner kayak course. We are making special arrangements for you this year. This will include a session in the pool before going to the lake on Day 1. The second day will be on the best novice teaching river in Alberta. There will be an additional $125 cost to the weekend for you, which is a great deal for 2 days equipment and instruction. Contact Chuck if you are interested.

If you have been in the pool this winter and want to get to the river faster we are offering a 2 day novice kayak clinic at an extra fee of $125. Pre-registration is required.  Instructors will do a quick review on the lake before heading over to the river to introduce you to the current.

THE LEADER and INSTRUCTOR EVALUATIONS and the BEGINNER NOVICE COURSES HAVE TO BE PRE-REGISTERED.
