Athletes attending the Alberta Summer Games are transported from their region to Grande Prairie on Thursday, July 19th and back home on Sunday,July 22nd. If you want to attend the Pre-ASG Camp then you will need to make arrangements with your team to get to Grande Prairie on Sunday, July 15th.

The athletes are accommodated in athlete villages, eat in the athlete dining hall, compete in their events, get coached in their sport and have 3 nights of supervised entertainment. The Alberta Summer Games is a great event to attend as an athlete and as a young Albertan.

All the events will be held at our host club's facilities, the Wapiti Kayak Club, in Muskoseepi Park and Bear Creek Reservoir in downtown Grande Prairie.

The registration costs for the ASG is $120.00, payable to the Alberta Whitewater Association.  You can pay online at https://www.albertawhitewater.ca/civicrm/event/info?id=39&reset=1

There are 3 events held at the Alberta Summer Games for Canoe/Kayak.

On the 1st day of competition is the slalom race, every competitor gets the chance to participate in the kayak (K-1), one man canoe (C-1) and doubles canoe (C-2) as well as the Team race, paddling through the gates in a timed and judged event. Each competitor gets 2 runs and the best result of the 2 runs will be used to select the winner. The slalom race will be on Bear Creek in Muskoseepi Park. It is a narrow flatwater creek with a current that provides a great venue for this race.

The 2nd day of the competition is the Canoe Polo Tournament. Six zones will playoff against each other to earn a spot in the Medal Round at the end of the day. This exciting team sport event is a crowd favourite and fun for all the teams playing a game of water polo in their kayaks.

The last day of the ASG is the long distance kayak and C-2 downriver race.  It should be fun seeing these long fast boats trying to maneuver around the Bear Creek Reservoir course.

The age of athletes for the ASG is 11 – 17 as of the date of the Games. Athletes cannot be 10 years of age or younger or 18 years of age or older at the Games. There are 2 age groups, Cadets and Juniors:
