Bow River access improvements

CRUA has been negotiating with the City of Calgary Parks Department for improved amenities at boat ramps and carry-in river access points in the City. We have asked for toilets, park benches and garbage bins at high traffic access points. Graves Bridge boat ramp is a good example of what has been installed. West Baker Park boat ramp has also received the same treatment. Other site will be upgraded as the summer continues. Follow the link;

From the fishing community perspective, the closure of the Graves Bridge boat ramp restricted drift boat use to the Bow River to only downstream of Calgary. The work by CRUA and member organization has finally guaranteed short-term trailered boat access to this site.

City Council approved the Motion "Calgary River Access Strategy" in June. Another very important movement on the part of the City of Calgary to recognize the importance of recreational river use. CRUA is assured a seat at stakeholder meetings to address the long-term goals of the strategy. It is hoped that our vision for open and improved river access infrastructure will be achieved.

For all those individuals who assisted with our work on these initiates - Thank You.
