Skilled and trained Instructors and Trip Leaders are important components in building a strong paddling community and successful clubs as well as keeping our sport as safe as possible. Instructor and Leadership training are an important part of the Alberta Whitewater Association’s mandate.

AWA recognizes that there are many individuals in the paddling community that are experienced and capable, who may not have had the opportunity to get formal training. So, please note: We will do everything we can to arrange a course in your community or region on a local river.

A serious limiting factor in offering these courses is always the availability of course conductors. AWA would encourage those with appropriate qualifications to become certified Course Conductors.
