Kananaskis repairs workparty - May 10-11

Hi Folks,

Over the last month, the Alberta Whitewater Association has been rebuilding the Kananaskis River Whitewater Centre that was extensively damaged in the flood last year. We have finished up the heavy equipment work and now we are going to touch up the facility and get some hand labour work completed before the paddling and camping season begins.

We need help cleaning up the site, repairing the trails, getting the slalom gate system back up and making our whitewater centre – THE centre for whitewater paddling in Alberta. To that end we are holding a work party at Canoe Meadows this weekend. Camping is free for anyone volunteering to work on the site for a few hours each day.

We have tools there but it would be helpful if you could bring some tools and equipment from home. If you are able to bring any tools, please mark them so we can get them back to you. We will need

-          wheelbarrows and dolleys (good for moving larger rocks)

-          shovels, pickaxes and rakes,

-          chainsaws, swedesaws and axes,

-          hammers, sledgehammers,

-          wrenches and socket sets

Don’t forget to bring your boat and paddling gear to test out the new and improved Kan.

I hope to see you this weekend or next weekend at the 3 Rivers Whitewater Rendezvous.
