The AWA is offering a 3 1/2 day NCCP course for the Whitewater Leader 3 and Whitewater Instructor 3 certfication levels. Participants will get trained on Grade III water to lead and teach whitewater skills. This course is for club, school, commercial instructors or guides/leaders who wish to lead advanced whitewater trips and teach kayaking on intermediate/advanced rivers
Prerequisites:
- AWA Member
- Minimum age 18 years
- Class III-IV (advanced) whitewater paddling skills
- Swiftwater Rescue and Safety Certification
- Certified as a NCCP River Instructor 2
- Active instructors must have Standard First Aid and CPR certification

Participants must meet performance objectives in the following areas:
- Personal paddling skills that instil confidence in teaching on a Class III River. Paddling Class III with ease and proficient demonstation quality techniques.
- Planning a session on Class III Rivers
- Teaching a session on Class III Rivers
- Provide support to paddlers
- Analyze paddler performance
The Whitewater Leader 3 / Instructor 3 will be able to:
- Organize and plan a session for intermediate and advanced paddlers and effectively teach on Class III moving water.
- Lead a paddling group down class III rapids in a safe manner. Teach the following skills / techniques / information
- All skills, safety, information and maneuvers from the Pool and Lake Instructor Level and River Instructor 2/Leader 2 and Leader 3 programs.
