The sport outreach program is intended to expose as many people as possible to kayaking, especially those in outlying areas where it may be difficult to get access to coaches or an established club.

The Alberta Whitewater Association (AWA) subsidizes this program through funds available from the Alberta Sport Recreation Parks & Wildlife Foundation (ASRPWF). The AWA subsidizes the clinic and assists in coordinating resources by arranging for equipment and instructor. Interested groups should contact the Executivel Director, Chuck Lee.

Guidelines For Clinics:

• Minimum six students per clinic
• Instructor must have AWA (or equivalent) Certification
• Assistants must have a minimum of AWA Level 1 Certification (or equivalent)
• Local club must be made aware of the clinic
• Clinic for new paddlers only (student can not have attended a similar SOR clinic in the past 3 years) follow up clinics are excluded from this rule
• Grants will not exceed $300 for pool clinics and $100 for lake clinics (different grants available for special situations)
