Carding is money given
by WSAA to 8 top performing Alberta athletes.
The athletes with the
top 4 percentages receive $600, and the next 4 receive $400.

below. WSAA carding is not to be confused with National Carding
which is administered by Whitewater Canada.

Athletes % at each race = Athlete’s Adjusted Time X 100% / Fastest
Albertan’s Adjusted Time
The adjusted percentages are derived as follows:
A Boat/Gender adjustment
is made, K1W times and C2 times are divided by 115% and C1 times are
divided by 110%.
To the Boat adjusted
time an age adjustment is made, with times being divided by:

Only athletes in
Open and Junior Classes are eligible for carding. Cadets are
considered as 15 yr olds for the age adjustment.

Masters are not
eligible for carding, even if racing in the Open Class

Athletes must be
members of the Provincial Team and not nationally carded.

Athlete must show a
minimum of 50 days of slalom specific training Mar. through
Sept., be committed to a serious off season training program,
and be a full time member of a WSAA recognized coaching program
(e.g., ATS or National Slalom Team).

Money may only be
spent on out of Province off season (Nov – Feb) Training (@
$200/trip)

An athlete must
designate off season training by Dec 1. Any money not designated
will be offered to the next athlete in line.
Note: Some exceptions to
the above eligibility criteria may be granted in special
circumstances (e.g., inability to participate in a team trial due to
injury or family emergency). Contact WSAA President for more
