2020 ASG FAQ

Where are the Games Held ?     In 2020 the Alberta Summer Games will be hosted in Lethbridge, Alberta. Canoe Polo will be held at Nicholas Sheran Park in west Lethbridge, Slalom will be on the Oldman River on the Burnco property in North Lethbridge and the Downriver will be on the Oldman River in Botterill Park. 

What are the dates and times of the Games ?   The opening ceremonies are Thursday evening, July 23rd. Canoe Polo competitions will start at 9:00 am on Friday and finish with medals at 6:00 pm. Slalom is Saturday, July 25 starting at 9:00 am and finishing with medals at 6:00 pm. The downriver race will start at 9:00 am and finish with medals at 1:00 pm. 

Who can participate ?  The Games are for young athletes between the ages of 11 and 17, in 3 age groups (11-12, 13-14, 15-17). Athletes must qualify for their spot at a regional zone playoff event. Participants cannot have competed for Canada at an International Canoe/Kayak event. 

What does it cost ?   The cost for the 4 days is $160.00 and includes transportation to the Letthbridge and home again, meals for 3 1/2 days, sleeping accommodations, Zone uniforms, coaching, equipment use and competition fees. All participants must be members of the Alberta Whitewater Association. $15 for an individual membership and $0 when included with an AWA club membership.
