Whitewater Parks, Facilities and AccessHarvie Passage The Notice of Motion above, is being put forward by Councillor Carra September 7th, following our meetings with him and MLA Jeremy Nixon. The NOM is to create a Harvie Passage Task Force within the City (including stakeholders) to improve experiences at the facility. This is a big step towards the City recognizing and taking the lead on what is one of Calgary's top used recreational parks and sports facilites. Planning, Funding, Construction. AWA and ARSA are working on plans for the reconstrution of the Kananskis waves and river features that have been damaged by high spring flows over the last six years. TransAlta and Parks are key components of a successful rebuild in 2023. Meetings with Parks are scheduled for this month to discuss opportunities to work together on the project.
We expect the combined project to be around $500,000 which will be funded with a combination of grants, rock donation, and community funding. If you'd like to help AWA & ARSA rebuild the park, you can Donate Here. An AWA community fundraising effort will happen this winter.
