The AWA was proud to host the 2022 Canadian Whitewater National Championships from August 3rd - 7th at Harvie Passage and the Kananaskis river. Six different events ran throughout the week with athletes of all ages from across Canada. With training camps the week before the event, there were definitely big tricks and smooth paddle strokes on show throughout the competitions! It was also the first time a SUP slalom event was part of the nationals championship. Although it was run as an unofficial event (as it is not currently recognized at the national level), the SUP athletes showed their sweet moves around the gates and highlighted the great whitewater facilities on the low-water channel at Harvie Passage. Thank you to all the athletes that participated in events throughout the week and to all the sponsors, coaches, and volunteers for your hard work in making the events run so successfully! Check out the event page here for results, photos, and media coverage of the event!
