Planned Prescribed Fire at Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site

Weather permitting, this spring Parks Canada will be conducting a prescribed fire at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site. This prescribed fire will be conducted in a way that reflects our commitment to safety and minimizes short-term inconveniences such as smoke. Parks Canada will onlyconduct ignition operationson those days with good atmospheric venting conditions to disperse smoke, and in a manner that will ensure the least impact possible on communities and visitors.

Additionally, those with medical conditions (e.g. asthma, chronic bronchitis) or severe smoke sensitivities may wish to receive notification in advance of prescribed fire operations. These parties may also choose to sign out a HEPA filter from Parks Canada to remove particulate matter from the air caused by smoke during the fire season.
