Welcome to our monthly newsletter. May might not have brought us a lot of water, but it sure brought a lot of fun! Festivals, competition, and regular weekly sessions on the water, got the season kicked off.

3-Rivers Rendezvous

The 3-Rivers Rendezvous kicked off the festival season with a bang. Around 200 people headed down to Southern Alberta for the yearly pilgrimage. Sunny skies outweighed the cool nights and it was great to see everyone enjoying the beautiful rivers that the area has to offer.

Some of the highlights that we heard of were trips on the Carbondale, Lynx Falls, and the Elk. 6 people passed Leader and/or Instructor certifications on the weekend! Congratulations to Luc, Daniel, Shane, David, Adam and Liam! Topped off with great food and games, this is never an event to miss!

Great job as always Chuck, Sue and the rest of the Pinch 'o Crow Creekers team!

Kananaskis Whitewater

AWA and ARSA are continuing to fundraise for the 2023/24 facility upgrades. The Engineering firms have been chosen and work is underway to design the adjustable wave, as well all the maintenance and improvements to the whole river. We've raised about  $10,000 of the last $100,000 needed for the wave and rehabilitation.

How to get a Tax Receipt & Match your donation

Donate now through Alberta Sport's Donation Fund Program to get a tax receipt and the government will match dollar for dollar. (max $1000/donor) Choose 'Whitewater' and 'Facility Development'

All Kananaskis donations will be used only for Kananaskis Project. We will recognize all donors equally because we know that everyone's love of the Kan goes beyond people's net worth.

• Race on just about any river in Alberta for a chance to win! 
• Specific favourites like the Elbow, Sheep and Kan will be hotly contested

June 11-12 - Kananaskis Open - ABSL & APL (slalom, creek, freestyle)

•  Camp at Canoe Meadows and enjoy a weekend training and competitive events
  

June 25-26 - Brierlies Fest - ABSL & APL (creek, freestyle)

•  A favourite meeting point for north and south, the Brierlies waves never disappoint

July 1-3 - Sundre Paddlefest - BVKC (rec)

•  The Red Deer River has arguably the most variety of any river in Alberta. Get out with friends and explore it!

July 8-10 - Women's Whitewater Weekend - BVKC (rec, freestyle)

• A weekend of fun at the Brierlies and freestyle sessions with Brenna Kelly!

July 22-24 - Toby Creek Race - ABSL & Aquabatics (creek)

• It's back! Intermediate events and Elite racing will once again echo off the canyon walls

Jul 29-Aug 7 - Canadian Whitewater National Championships, Kananaskis

•    This multi-discipline event based out of Canoe Meadows will be the first time all of AWA's competitive disciplines are combined. We hope to see lots of cross polination of athletes, volunteers and spectators. Hosted by AWA, ACPA, ABSL & APL, it will include polo, slalom, extreme, freestyle, downriver & SUP
