Canoe Polo program support news

Good day everyone,

We hope your summer was full of fun and adventures but as we all know the summer will soon give way to colder temperatures and we must take our activities indoors.

On that note, October 1 is the deadline for your club to declare its intentions to host an event this winter season, which is between October 2013 and May 2014.

Submitting before the deadline of October 1 will assure you that your club qualifies for the $ 500 Winter Event Grant which is to be spent towards pool rental only. A timely submission will also ensure that your event qualifies for the $ 750 Event Insurance: this guaranties against an unforseen financial loss coming from higher pool costs. So with all your pool costs covered there should be no hesitation to host an event this winter.

Additionally, if your event does not make the "sanctionned" event list by not being submitted before the deadline of October 1, the travel subsidy will not be available to the out of town paddlers who wish to come to your event - So submit your date early !

2014 is a Summer Games year and we all want our young paddlers to have as much experience as possible. In this spirit your club should be making plans to take advantage of the $ 750 Youth Development Grant which is accessible by all ACPA member clubs since it comes as part of your membership.
The 2013 program funds can be used in the early part of 2013, and your 2014 grant budgeted for use in the New Year. This money is to be used for offering pool sessions to younger paddlers (U21), although adult members can also participate. Remember that a full attendance list needs to be submitted for those sessions along with the pool invoices. The attendance list must show the full name, age and gender of each participant for each session.

If you need to have an introductory Outreach session for your area before the Summer Games, these can be scheduled at no cost to the participants.
A session of 2 to 4 hours, with anywhere from a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 20 participants, can be setup with ACPA picking up the full costs of the pool rental. We will bring our Outreach trailer with all the equipment for 10 paddlers and we will also provide the coaching for the session.
Although the focus should be placed on getting Summer Games age participants, adults can also participate in order to maximize the attendance of each Outreach clinic.

A reminder that we now allow each club to submit their equipment grant for $ 1000 once every year. ACPA will select only 5 submissions per year on a "1st come 1st served" basis, so submit your request as soon as possible.

Finally, most clubs have not submitted their club executive information for 2013 or named a Canoe Polo contact person as we requested earlier this year. Please submit the names and contact information for your club's board of directors as soon as possible and identify who in your club should be the contact person for Canoe Polo specific information. Funding may be held until this information is supplied.

This information needs to be supplied once every year after your club's AGM so we can keep our contact information current.

Let us have a very active winter and make sure that our 2014 Summer Games teams are well trained for this exciting event.

Have a Great Labour Day !
