POCC Little Rollers - FUNdamentals Kayak Camps 2020

The club offers a specially designed kids kayak camp for children ages 7-11. We have seen lots of interest from little ones to get paddling in the pool. And we are going to take that to the next step – the lake and maybe a lazy river.

Our camps are changing this year because of the Covid-19 situation. After consulting nationally and provincially we have created a safe operating plan that includes maximum time outdoors having fun and minimizing risks. To help us cope with this change we are requesting that a parent or older sibling accompany your child for the camp. So instead of this being a kids only camp it will be a family camp. You are welcome to bring a cohort family or children with you. Our biggest challenge is moving children between paddling locations because we cannot use just 1 shuttle van. So for this to work we need families to help shuttle their children between paddling trips on the 3rd day of the camp. 

During the week, you will be assigned your own kit with your paddling gear for the week, you are to take this kit home everynight and air-dry it and bring it back the next day. If needed you can wash the gear with soap and water, never bleach or harsh disinfectants. All boats and paddles will be washed each evening after our sessions. 

The FUNdamentals kids camp will go out to the lake for a full day program that will focus on the joy and freedom of kayaking. We will explore local places to paddle, find turtles, create some crafts and have a lot of fun outdoors on the water. For extra fun we will use our standup paddleboards on the lake too. 

The camp provides certified instruction, all the equipment plus transportation.  You bring change of clothing, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water and lunch.

The camps are open to anyone 7 years and over.
