3 Rivers Rendezvous 2020 - aka Pincher Snofest

Registration is closed for this event
Things are on standby right now until we get a better understanding of what will happen with the shutdowns of events and activities. We are optimistically hopeful that we will be able to host all of you again on the May long weekend, but who knows what will be happening in this world by then .... We will not be making a final GO-NO GO decision until May 6th. The campground has been booked and Sue says she can pull all the food and fixings together with one week's notice. For now we are keeping our fingers crossed hoping that things will get better.

Here is the info package for the 3 Rivers Rendezvous. We have opened the Registration so people can register and pay for their weekend. Be assured that if we can't host you this year, we will give you a 100% refund.

Here is hoping that you can join us for the 22nd Annual 3 Rivers Rendezvous    May 15-18, 2020 down here in the "Centre of Adventure".

The Pinch-o-Crow Creekers will be organizing and leading trips on the Castle, Crowsnest and Oldman Rivers. There will also be chances to go paddle the Carbondale, Elk, Wigwam, Bull, Highwood, Waterton or Belly Rivers while you are down here. Only three days and too many rivers to paddle.

Plus we might just be able to have a Creek Race on Sunday.

There will be opportunities for beginner groups to get on the water and paddle easier stretches as well as more advanced trips.

Last year's Rendezvous was the coldest, and I mean coldest weather and lowest river levels we have ever had. and yet everyone who came said they would be back. With a little luck we will have great weather, great water levels and an all clear from the powers that be to host you'all again.

We will definitely have more sun, less snow and lots of water for all you big wave fans. It can't be any worse – but it's always been fun and it will be fun this year too! And this is our 22nd Anniversary - so it would be wonderful to see you again.

This event is hosted by the Pinch-o-Crow Creekers. All proceeds go to support youth kayak programs and kayak lessons to schools in Southwest Alberta.

Because of the uncertainty this year, we really don't know what to expect for numbers. In the past we always had a good feel for what was going to happen, but this year we are going to be in the dark. We really do need to know in advance if you are coming, so we would appreciate your advance registration so we can have a great steak reserved for you.

This year we will have demo boats and StandUp Paddleboards from several manufacturers and equipment will be on site to try and buy.

The event will be based at Castle River Rodeo Grounds, 5 km north of Beaver Mines on Hwy 507. Camping is going to be the same as last year. It is centrally located and easy to find off Highway 507 between Hwy 3 near Lundbreck and Beaver Mines. This site is well sheltered with flush toilets, a camp kitchen and lots of room for everyone – even trailers. The campground has electrical plug-ins at all sites except #7. Bring extension cords and adapters for 30 amp receptacles if you want to plug in. Check out the map for info on the different sites.

Drive west on Highway 3 past Lundbreck Falls till you come to Highway 507. Turn south and head towards Beaver Mines and Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Drive 8 km south, at the top of the south hill after you cross the Castle River , turn east to the Castle River Rodeo Grounds. The road swings back down to the river, follow the signs into the campground.

We have Steaks and fixings dinner for Saturday night and Sunday night we will have another great dinner - menu still to be confirmed. There will be vegetarian options for those who want it. Please let us know in advance so that we can order enough for you.

We are encouraging you to bring your own plates, cups and cutlery to reduce our waste.

On Saturday night we will have children's games and draw prizes for the kids. On Sunday night we have a great games night for teens and adults and draw prizes for the older crowd.

This Year - the Oldman Brewing Company from Lundbreck is sponsoring a Beer Garden for Saturday and Sunday nights. We will have 2 different beers on tap each night and from personal experience and other tastetesters they are pretty good. Adults will receive 2 tickets for beer/wine with their registration and extra tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event.

We have package prices for the weekend. This price includes all entries, entertainment, 3 nights camping, 2 suppers and 3 breakfasts, plus prize tickets. Early bird on-line prices are as follows. After May 86h the price increases by $20 and late on-site registration increases again by another $10.

We are building on our very successful long weekend event that kicks off the summer kayak season for Alberta. For the last few years we have had 300 paddlers down here, so it's a great gathering and with so many river runs around there is lots of space for everyone. This year we have games and prize night on Saturday for the kids and Sunday night with games and prize draws for the teens & adults.

For those of you with friends or family not paddling, there are some great hikes, mountain biking, great historic sites close by (Frank Slide, Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and the Bar U Ranch), flyfishing, shopping and even some cowboy adventures if you want something totally different.

We are asking people to register online to help us figure out how much food to prepare and to set aside a camping spot with your friends. This is especially important this year because we don't know how we will be impacted by the quarantines. If you have any questions please call or send me a note. Be assured that if we can't host you this year, we will give you a 100% refund.

If you are a brand new novice paddler, still dry behind the ears, and would like a 2 day lake and river beginner kayak course. We are making special arrangements for you this year. This will include a session in the pool before going to the lake on Day 1. The second day will be on the best novice teaching river in Alberta. There will be an additional $125 cost to the weekend for you, which is a great deal for 2 days equipment and instruction.

If you have been in the pool this winter and want to get to the river faster we have a 2 day novice kayak clinic at an extra fee of $125. Pre-registration is required.  Instructors will do a quick review on the lake before heading over to the river to introduce you to the current.

THE BEGINNER AND NOVICE COURSES HAVE TO BE PRE-REGISTERED.
