AWA Youth Kayak Camp 2015

Clubs are encouraged to send their teams and any young paddlers to this camp to improve skills and learn more from our coaches. This camp is a great preparation for the Provincials and the ASG next year. Cost is $220 and includes camping, meals, coaching and transportation for 5 days. We will be based at the scenic Canoe Meadow camprground with some great paddling close at hand and flatwater site on Barrier Lake.

This camp will start Monday, August 24 and will include breakfast, lunch and supper meals for 5 days, We will make arrangements to handle any mild food allergies. Families with children that have severe food sensitivities are welcome to attend the camp and cook food for their children.

Camping will be ;at Canoe Meadows campground. Families are welcome to camp out with us for the week.

Training sessions during the camp will include Canoe Polo skills and tactical strategies; slalom skills for K1, C1 and C2; balancing and paddling downriver kayaks on flatwater and building surfing, flatspins and vertical moves for freestyle comp . We will also be doing some river runs on the Kananaskis for anyone who is ready for it. 

Our team of certified Instructors and Coaches will include Club Coaches and other invited Coaches from the different disciplines involved in the AWA.

The Provincials start Friday night and run through the weekend - August 29-30. After a week of paddling at the Kan, kayakers will be ready to enter into events at either the Novice or Advanced levels. There are some great prizes for everyone that participates.
