Stand Up Paddleboard

Stand Up Paddleboarding has quickly become recognizable part of the river community. From flatwater excursions to whitewater river running and surfing, there is something for everyone! AWA supports the development of SUP education, inclusion in club activities and river events.

Alberta has some great resources for SUP paddling and we encourage everyone to learn river safety basics before heading out.

  • Always wear a PFD
  • Never use an ankle leash on moving water
  • On large bodies of flat water a leash is important for keeping you with your board
